GEORGES BRAQUE - LETTERA AMOROSA |
The gallery is happy to present to you a very beautiful collection of prints of George Braque. They are the state proofs of the lithographs for the book of Rene Char Lettera amorosa. Let us recall that the book was published in 1963, that it contains 27 original lithographs, most of them in colors. Printed by Mourlot and published by Engelberts, the book was published at 200 copies. All the lithographs are present here except for the one entitled “les citrons” (the lemons). It is thus an extremely rare unit since we can consider that these state proofs of the lithographs had been printed at 1 or 2 specimens, these lithographs are thus single and extremely rare. All the prints are in very good condition, were never exposed to the light, some first state present a small discolouration in the paper, but no colors are faded. These prints were shown in the exhibition GEORGES BRAQUE - RENE CHAR in the Jacques Doucet Library in Paris in 1963. (catalogues with foreword of George Blin, exhibition organized by François Chapon).
